The Yallingup Surfilm Festival aims to inspire exploration into surf culture. We aim to create a meeting place for the wider surf culture community and to provide passionate filmmakers & artists from around the world with a forum for sharing their creativity in the exploration and celebration of surf culture.
Nature guides us at YSF, our love for the ocean drives our commitment to preserve our living environment. Our aim is to use this festival to raise environmental & social awareness.
Festival Beginnings
The festival’s humble beginnings stem from a desire to celebrate the Western Australian people's intrinsic connection with the ocean and to explore new aspects of surf culture by discovering stories of human spirit and inspiration, all closely connected to surfing. From here, the desire opened up to bring diverse influences in film making, music, and art from around the world to our surf culture. Local founder and Festival Director Jesca Maas, and a supportive surf community have worked passionately to create this inspiring festival.
Film Awards
Awards for Best Feature-length Film, and Best Short Film will be presented on the closing night. The People’s Choice Award will be announced soon after the festival, in the YSF e- newsletter, Facebook and in the general media.
Panellist Discussions/ Forums
A Surf Culture Forum will be held with the aim to explore surf culture; where it's at and where it's heading.
A Surf Film Makers Forum will be held exploring new surf film making techniques and trends.
Volunteers
The Yallingup Surfilm Festival can not exist without its valuable volunteers. YSF will need 40 wonderful people who would like to donate some of their time to make this festival a truly spectacular experience for all those attending and participating.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to learn about and be involved with the festival and to meet like minded people.
