Shuttle buses make travelling to Yallingup Surfilm Festival a breeze

Thanks to South West Coach Lines travelling to the Yallingup Surfilm Festival is now as relaxing as the festival itself.

Throughout the festival shuttle buses will be servicing Clancy’s Fish Pub Dunsborough, the evening venue for the film screenings, live music and the Surfboard Lineup! Exhibition.

It’s first in best dressed with limited car parking available, so the best way to get to Clancy’s is to park in Dunsborough and jump on the bus where there’ll be plenty of space for your blankets and chairs.

Every hour on the hour a bus will travel the Capes loop, which runs from Dunsborough to Yallingup, to Eagle Bay and back to Dunsborough again. The bus loop will commence at 1.00pm and conclude at 10.00pm.

South West Coach Lines will also be operating additional shuttle buses from Dunsborough Visitors Centre to Clancy’s and from Yallingup Store to Clancy’s, running every 15 minutes between 5.45pm and 7.30pm. From 9.00pm to 10.30pm the shuttle buses will run from Clancy’s back to Dunsborough and Yallingup, leaving every 15 minutes.

Bus costs are just $4 for an adult and $2 for a child.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.yallingupsurfilm.com/tickets2012 They are also available now from local NAB branches in Dunsborough, Busselton or Margaret River and Samudra in Dunsborough. Volunteers will also be selling tickets at Clancy's Fish Pub Dunsborough daily from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, why not drop in for a beer and get your tickets!

Your ticket or wristband will give you access to events during the day soit pays to get them now before the Festival starts! With a Day Pass or Weekend Pass not only do you get to spend your evenings at Clancy’s, but you also get free entry to the film screenings at Samudra on Saturday and Sunday and the discussion forums at Yallingup Hall.

Thirty Thousand more reasons to check out the Yallingup Surfilm Festival

14th December 2011
If the recent announcement of film finalists for the 2012 Yallingup Surfilm Festival wasn’t enough to get you going, there has been one more film added to the list – Thirty Thousand.

Thirty Thousand is a surf film shot in and around the African continent.  Directed by Richard James, the film documents the journey of two surfers who traveled 30,000km down the west coast of Africa. Along the way they surfed Morocco, Western Sahara, Senegal, Liberia, Angola, Namibia and South Africa.
Making its WA premiere, Thirty Thousand replaces Splinters, which will no longer be screened at the Festival. Thirty Thousand will be joining a number of international films that were announced as finalists at the program launch. The diverse range of films also includes pieces from Chile and Finland.
Film screenings will be held at Clancy’s Fish Pub Dunsborough and Samudra throughout the weekend of the festival, and times are available on the Yallingup Surfilm Festival website.

Film screenings are just one element of celebrations over the three-day festival from 20 to 22 January. Celebrating surf culture and the natural environment, there will also be a surfboard art display, music, forums, tarp surfing demonstrations and a Fancy Dress Surfing Competition.

Tickets are on sale now through the website – www.yallingupsurfilm.com.au and from NAB Bank branches in Dunsorough, Busselton and Margaret River. Stay up to date with updates on our Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/YallingupSurfilmFest and Twitter - @yallsurfilm.

Surfboards line the way down to surf inspired event

20th December 2011

The lead up to the Yallingup Surfilm Festival (20 to 22 January) is being lined by a unique art exhibition, with one-off painted surfboards currently on display from Perth to the south west of Western Australia.

The time and talent of renowned surf artists including past Quicksilver International artist Peter Webb and well-known local artist Jos Myers have been donated to benefit SurfAid International with the surfboards up for auction as part of the festivities.

The surfboards are currently being displayed in cafes and retailers around WA, where they will remain for the next six weeks. Locations include Bunkers Beach Café in Bunkers Bay, Flying Fish Cove Winery in Wilyabrup, Surfside Surfshack in Yallingup, Samudra in Dunsborough, Clancy’s Fish Bar City Beach, Brownies Sun & Surf at Claremont Quarter, Knee Deep Restaurant in Wilyabrup, The Cape Winebar in Dunsborough and Fun’s Back in Cottesloe.

The artworks will then move to Clancys Fish Pub Dunsborough to be displayed together over the festival weekend before going to a live auction on the Sunday evening (22 January) with proceeds going to SurfAid International.
The Yallingup Surfilm Festival has a strong commitment to promoting surf culture and increasing environmental and social awareness. As such they proudly support SurfAid International, the beneficiaries of the surfboard auction, as well as Disabled Surfers WA.

Call for volunteers

9th December 2011

The Yallingup Surfilm Festival is on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers for its upcoming event in January.
From Friday 20 to Sunday 22 January, the Festival spirit will take over Yallingup and Dunsborough with films, music, art and workshops all inspired by surf culture.  If you love all things film, surf and the environment, Festival organisers urge you to get involved.
There are many different areas to lend a hand. The Festival needs drivers available all weekend, car park attendees, hosts, ticket collectors and volunteer event photographers. They’re particularly after jacks-of-all-trades to help with setting up before and after the event, which is based at the new Clancy’s Fish Pub Dunsborough on Caves Road.
Festival organizer Jesca Maas said she was looking for a dedicated bunch of people to join their team.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to get involved with the community, meet new people, gain some events experience, enjoy some teamwork and be a part of a new and exciting event,” Jesca said.
“As a volunteer you’ll get a free YSF’12 Patagonia Crew t-shirt, a festival ticket for the days you’re working and lots of fun times!”
On the Monday morning after the Festival, as a thank you for all the YSF’12 Crew, a breakfast will be held at Clancy’s Fish Pub Dunsborough, the home of the 2012 festival.
There are a limited number of volunteer roles available so you’ll need to act quickly to be a part of this one-of-a-kind experience.
